Egeskove Castle |
We went to Fynen, which is a island, yesterday. There are lots of islands here, most of them connected by train. We saw Hans Christian Andersen's childhood home and museum in Odense; while his professional life seemed to be successful, his personal life was a little sad. We then met up with Ken (Ganne's son) and his five kids. He took us to Egeskov Stole or castle. It was beautiful! It still remains in the family line and is currently occupied by Count Michael Ahlefeldt-Laurvig-Bille. He has opened up part of it to the public and has add other attractions, ie. motorcycle museums, labyrinths, playgrounds, etc. Anna, there is the most incredible dollhouse, you would have loved it. And boys you would have liked the main hall, it's filled with weapons from all over the world. We then drove around the countryside looking at other castles, every village has its own castle. We also saw a very old Viking burial mound-really cool! We're headed back into town today to do a little shopping. Bye.
What a wonderful day...hope you got a lot of pictures! You are looking happy and pretty....
